What We Do Together with NGOs, businesses, government agencies and the United Nations, YFWP works on crucial issues to realize the dream of one global family of interdependence, mutual prosperity, and universally shared values.These efforts are directed principally in five areas: - Peace education and leadership programs for Young Ambassadors for Peace;
Peace-building programs in Northeast Asia, with a special focus on North-South Korea reunification; Interfaith conflict resolution, with special focus on the Middle East;
Humanitarian service and character education programs to fulfill the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations;
Global Peace Festivals in all continents to foster and celebrate peace..
History Inspired by the vision of Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han Moon to transcend all barriers of nationality, race, culture, and religion, young leaders from 20 countries gathered in Bejing, China, in June 1994 and called for the creation of YFWP. In July of that year, delegates from 164 nations officially launched the YFWP in Washington, D.C. International figures have joined numerous YFWP Youth Congresses to add their strong support for the voice of youth in global peacemaking, including former U.S. President George H. W. Bush, British Prime Minister Sir Edmund Heath, President Rodrigo Carazo of Costa Rica, Prime Minister Aziz Sidky of Egypt, Ambassador Douglas MacArthur II, Dr. Stoyan Ganev (former president of the UN General Assembly), youth violence prevention movement leader Robert Woodson, leading youth cultural artists including the Kirov Ballet, and other prominent leaders from every sector of life. On August 12, 2006, during the United Nations International Youth Day, YFWP held an historic peacemaker rally with 25,000 young leaders who gathered at Arneta Coliseum in the Philippines. YFWP International President and Service for Peace founder Hyun Jin Moon urged youth leaders to dream big, as he was joined by the Philippine Speaker of the House Jose Devenecia, and key organizers from youth entrepreneurship, universities and cultural organizations.
Become a Young Ambassador for Peace The signature initiative of YFWP is the education and appointment of young leaders in every walk of life, from ages 18 to 49, to leading roles in national renewal and global conflict resolution as Young Ambassadors for Peace. These young ambassadors build professional leadership networks and collaborate on key shared values: PRINCIPLES OF PEACE The highest qualities of the human being are spiritual and moral in nature. The family is the "school of love and peace". "Living for the sake of others is the way to reconcile the divided human family". Peace comes through cooperation beyond the boundaries of ethnicity, religion and nationality. We are one human family created by God, the ultimate reality.
